The Sixth Form College Colchester received a prestigious ‘Outstanding’ judgement across all seven categories in its May 2024 inspection. Ofsted highlighted the consistently high-quality teaching delivered by subject specialists, the calm and focused learning atmosphere, and the respectful, aspirational attitudes of students. The report also praised the college’s unwavering commitment to student wellbeing and personal development, describing the learners as well-behaved, inclusive, and well-prepared for life beyond college. 

Similarly, Long Road Sixth Form College achieved a strong ‘Good’ rating in all key areas, with a particularly impressive ‘Outstanding’ grade for its high needs provision. The report highlighted that students benefit from a curriculum tailored to their interests and aspirations, delivered by staff who know their subjects and learners extremely well. Ofsted inspectors praised the college for fostering an inclusive, supportive and aspirational environment where all students can thrive. Students were noted to be mature, courteous, and committed to their studies.

These outcomes affirm the Trust’s belief in the transformative power of specialist sixth form education. They reflect the depth of subject knowledge, the quality of leadership, and the powerful learning environments across both colleges. Both colleges deliver exceptional experiences that enable young people to achieve their potential and become confident, compassionate members of society. The inspections confirm the strength and effectiveness of each college in creating a space where students feel valued, empowered, and inspired to excel and providing enriching, future-focused education tailored to the needs of 16–19-year-olds.
